Description
The VMEQ-5 by Antelope Audio is an FPGA-powered emulation of the iconic Neve-style program equaliser — a five-band passive EQ unit that has shaped the sound of rock, pop, and R&B recordings for over five decades. Every curve, inductor resonance, and passive component interaction is modelled with the precision only Antelope’s FPGA platform can deliver.
Technical Highlights
- Five-Band Passive EQ Architecture — Low shelf, low mid, mid, high mid, and high shelf bands modelled from the original passive circuit
- Musical Proportional-Q Response — EQ bands interact with each other in the characteristically musical way of passive designs
- Inductor-Based Saturation — The natural saturation from the original’s transformer and inductor components is faithfully preserved
- Gain Range — Both subtle enhancement and dramatic tonal shaping within a single plugin
- FPGA Zero-Latency Processing — Runs on Antelope’s Synergy Core hardware for real-time performance without CPU impact
Best Applications
Drum buses, mix bus mastering, electric guitars, bass, and any source that benefits from the warmth and musicality of classic British passive EQ design.
Requirements
Requires an Antelope Audio interface with FPGA processing (Synergy Core compatible). Mac & Windows.
