Originally conceived by Richard Wagner for his monumental Ring cycle, the Wagner tuba was designed to bridge the tonal space between horn and trombone. Traditionally placed in the hands of horn players, it extends the expressive range of the horn section into a darker, more solemn register while preserving lyrical flexibility and blend. As an ensemble, the four instruments captured are said to create a burnished, majestic sound that adds weight, warmth and harmonic depth to orchestral writing. As always, the library is provided in Standard and Full versions, the latter of which contains additional microphone signals. Compatibility Synchron Wagner Tuba Ensemble runs in VSL’s Synchron Player, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 11 and higher.
