Key Details
- Precision Sizing: Specifically crafted with a 12.5-inch diameter to ensure a snug, secure fit on compatible Bata Iya drums.
- Authentic Tone: Designed to produce the characteristic high-pitched, piercing tone essential for the lead drum in a Bata ensemble.
- Durable Construction: Built to withstand the high tension required for traditional tuning and frequent striking.
- Lightweight Profile: Weighing only 0.7 lbs, it provides a responsive playing surface without adding unnecessary mass to the drum shell.
Use Cases
- Traditional Performance: Ideal for musicians performing Yoruba traditional music or Afro-Cuban rhythms where the Iya drum leads the ensemble.
- Maintenance & Repair: A direct replacement for worn, stretched, or punctured heads to restore the original brilliance of the instrument.
- Tonal Customization: Useful for percussionists who prefer to keep multiple heads on hand to ensure a fresh, crisp sound for every recording session or live event.
Installation
Installation involves removing the existing head and securing the new Tycoon head over the drum shell. Depending on the specific drum model, this may involve traditional rope tensioning or mechanical lugs. Ensure the head is centered perfectly before tightening to avoid uneven tension, which can lead to premature wear or pitch instability.
Compatibility
This product is compatible with 12.5-inch diameter Bata Iya drums. Please verify the shell measurement of your instrument to ensure a proper fit.
