Overview
The Tycoon Percussion Turkish Copper Series Darbuka is a professional-grade goblet drum designed to deliver the authentic, crisp sonic characteristics of traditional Middle Eastern percussion. Combining a resonant copper body with modern materials, this instrument provides the optimum balance of projection and tonal clarity required for both traditional folk music and contemporary world fusion.
Key Details
- Resonant Copper Shell: Crafted from high-quality copper to ensure a bright, cutting tone with rich harmonic overtones.
- Durable Synthetic Head: Equipped with a high-tension synthetic skin that offers superior durability and consistent tuning stability across various climates.
- Optimized Resonance: The goblet shape is precision-engineered to maximize air displacement, resulting in a powerful “doum” (bass) and a sharp, clear “tek” (high).
- Included Accessories: Comes complete with a dedicated tuning key for precise tension adjustments.
Use Cases
- World Music Ensembles: Ideal for performing traditional Arabic, Turkish, and Balkan music where a sharp, penetrating lead percussion sound is essential.
- Studio Recording: The crisp attack of the synthetic head makes it an excellent choice for recording, providing a clean signal that is easy to mix.
- Live Performance: The copper construction ensures the instrument can cut through a full band or ensemble without losing tonal definition.
Installation
This instrument arrives ready for assembly and tuning. Use the included tuning key to tighten the tension bolts around the rim. Turn the bolts in a cross-pattern (star pattern) to ensure the head is tightened evenly, preventing warping and ensuring a consistent pitch across the entire playing surface.
Compatibility
