Description
Overview
The Triple 50 Gloss Black Electric Guitar by Michael Kelly Guitar Co. is a sophisticated evolution of the classic 1950s-style electric guitar. Designed for players who demand more tonal flexibility than a standard setup provides, the Triple 50 breaks tradition by incorporating a third single-coil pickup positioned between the bridge and neck. This unique configuration, paired with a specialized wiring modification, transforms the instrument into one of the most versatile and tonally rich models in the 1950s line.
Key Details
- Triple Single-Coil Configuration: Features three single-coil pickups to expand the sonic palette beyond the traditional two-pickup layout.
- Advanced Wiring Mod: Utilizes a standard 3-way selector switch complemented by an additional mini toggle switch.
- Dynamic Tonal Control: The mini toggle allows players to bring the middle single-coil pickup in or out of the mix, creating a wide array of blending options.
- Premium Aesthetics: Finished in a sleek Gloss Black for a professional, timeless look.
Use Cases
- Studio Recording: Ideal for session musicians who need to quickly switch between traditional “twang” and richer, blended tones without changing instruments.
- Live Performance: Perfect for guitarists playing diverse genres who require a “go-to” instrument capable of handling everything from clean, bright leads to warm, full-bodied rhythms.
- Tonal Exploration: A great choice for players looking to experiment with unique pickup combinations and phase-like textures provided by the middle pickup toggle.
Installation
This is a physical electric guitar that arrives ready for setup. Users should perform a standard string height adjustment and intonation check to suit their playing style. The unique wiring for the mini toggle switch is factory-installed, requiring no additional modification to access the expanded tonal options.
Compatibility
As a physical instrument, this guitar is compatible with any standard electric guitar amplifier, pedalboard, and 1/4″ instrument cable. It is designed for standard electric guitar strings and accessories.
