Description
Overview
Temperance Pro by Eventide represents a paradigm shift in spatial processing, engineered as the world’s most musical reverb. Unlike traditional reverberation that treats audio as a generic signal, Temperance Pro operates directly on the 12-note chromatic scale. By utilizing advanced modal technology, it allows producers and engineers to determine exactly which notes bloom or fade within a space, ensuring that the ambiance is musically intentional rather than incidental.
At its core, the plugin models a reverberant space as thousands of independent, real-time adjustable resonators—conceptually similar to a room filled with thousands of tuning forks of varying sizes. This scientific approach provides unprecedented control over the loudness and decay of specific frequencies, resulting in studio-ready ambiance with uncompromising character and musicality.
Key Details
- Modal Technology: Access 29 world-class spaces built entirely on modal response, breaking free from the limitations of traditional algorithmic or convolution reverbs.
- Musical Note Control: Direct control over the 12-note chromatic scale to shape the musical texture and harmonic content of the reverb tail.
- Extensive Preset Library: Includes over 120 expertly crafted presets designed to inspire across various instruments, genres, and production workflows.
- High-Performance Engine: Ultra-low latency (less than 1 ms), making the plugin suitable for real-time performance and tracking.
- Visual Feedback: Integrated Spectrum Analyzer that displays the direct output of all modes used in the Modal Response for precise visual tuning.
- Workflow Tools: Features a built-in Bypass switch for instant In vs. Out comparison and A/B setting comparison states with a “Copy to other” button for rapid auditing.
Use Cases
- Compositional Sound Design: Utilize Sequence Mode to program note changes that follow specific chord progressions or scales, transforming the reverb into an active, evolving part of the musical arrangement.
- Tactile Performance: Engage MIDI Mode to connect an external controller and select notes in real-time, providing an immediate and expressive way to manipulate spatial characteristics during a performance.
- Precision Mixing: Apply Manual Mode with the note-roll style input to build custom note selections. Use the “Choose Scale” dropdown to quickly select chords, scales, modes, or intervals, ensuring the reverb complements the key of the track without creating muddy frequencies.
- CPU-Efficient Mixing: Engage Eco Mode during heavy sessions to maintain efficient CPU performance without sacrificing the core musicality of the effect.
