Description
Overview
The Yamaha reface CS is a powerful, mobile mini analog modeling synthesizer designed for musicians who need professional sound design in a compact, portable format. Utilizing a sophisticated Analog Physical Modeling (AN) engine, the reface CS delivers the warmth and character of classic analog synthesis with the convenience of modern digital control. Whether you are crafting fat bass lines, ethereal pads, or piercing leads, this instrument provides a tactile, hands-on experience with a high-quality keyboard and an intuitive interface.
Key Details
- Analog Physical Modeling Engine: Features five distinct oscillator types with flexible LFO and ADSR routing. Each oscillator includes dedicated TEXTURE and MOD controls for deep sonic shaping:
Multi-saw: Adds sub-oscillators and layers multiple sawtooth waves.
Pulse: Adjusts pulse width and changes the pitch of the second pulse wave.
Oscillator Sync: Sets pitch change amounts and modifies the pitch/tone of the second oscillator.
Ring Modulation: Independently changes the pitch of the first and second oscillators.
FM: Controls modulation amount and the pitch of the modulator.
- Polyphony & Performance: Offers 8-note polyphony for complex chords and lush pads, with a switchable Mono Mode for authoritative synth bass and solo leads.
- Onboard Effects: A built-in processor featuring five effect types to add depth and grit: Delay, VCM Phaser, VCM Chorus/Flanger, Distortion, and a bypass mode.
- Premium Control: Equipped with 37 HQ (High Quality) Mini Keys based on the flagship Motif XF action, ensuring a natural feel and precise response.
- Integrated Phrase Looper: Capture song ideas instantly or build layers for live jamming using the built-in looper.
- Portable Audio: Features a 2W 3cm stereo speaker system with bass reflex port technology for rich, full-range sound anywhere.
Use Cases
- Studio Production: Use as a compact sound design station to quickly dial in analog-style textures for DAW projects.
- Live Performance: Ideal for stage use as a lightweight lead or bass synth that fits easily into a crowded rig.
- Mobile Composition: Battery-powered operation makes it perfect for songwriting in classrooms, rehearsal spaces, or on the go.
- Collaborative Sharing: Connect to Soundmondo via Google Chrome and Web MIDI to discover, create, and share Voices and Set Lists with a global community.
Installation
