Description
Overview
The MV6 Marching Snare & Tenor Stick by Vater Percussion is a precision-engineered percussion tool designed for high-performance marching environments. Serving as a slightly smaller, thinned-out alternative to the popular MV7, the MV6 maintains the same professional characteristics and balance while offering a more manageable profile. This makes it an ideal choice for indoor marching percussion ensembles or players with smaller hands who require a fast, responsive stick without sacrificing projection.
Key Details
- Optimized Dimensions: Featuring a 17″ length, these sticks are specifically tapered to provide a balance of speed and power.
- Premium American Hickory: Constructed from a blend of Shellbark and Shagbark Hickory, the industry standard for shock absorption and long-term durability.
- Strict Moisture Control: Vater utilizes dowels with a specific moisture content of 10%-12%, ensuring the sticks are optimized for “striking” tools to maximize feel and lifespan.
- Enhanced Response: The thinned-out design compared to the MV7 allows for quicker articulation and reduced fatigue during extended performances.
Use Cases
- Indoor Marching Percussion: Perfect for gym or arena settings where a slightly more controlled volume and faster response are preferred over raw outdoor power.
- Tenor & Snare Drums: Versatile enough to be used across both snare and tenor drums, providing consistent projection and clarity.
- Youth & Student Players: An excellent transition stick for younger percussionists or those with smaller hands who find standard marching sticks too bulky.
- High-Velocity Rudiments: Ideal for complex, fast-paced marching patterns that require a lightweight feel and rapid rebound.
Installation
No installation is required. These sticks are ready for immediate use. For optimal performance, ensure you are using a marching-grade head on your snare or tenor drums to complement the projection and durability of the American Hickory construction.
