Overview
Restore the authentic, organic voice of your percussion with the Latin Percussion 7-1/4″ Rawhide Bongo Head. Designed specifically for the demanding needs of professional percussionists, this natural rawhide head delivers the warm, rich tones and sharp attack characteristic of traditional bongo drumming.
To ensure consistent performance and sonic quality, every LP head is hand-picked based on texture, thickness, and resiliency. This rigorous selection process guarantees that your instrument maintains the authentic sound and durability expected from the industry leader in Latin percussion.
Key Details
- Premium Material: Constructed from natural rawhide for a traditional, organic sonic profile.
- Hand-Selected Quality: Each head is individually vetted for thickness and resiliency to ensure uniform performance.
- Precision Fit: Specifically engineered for 7-1/4″ diameter LP bongo drums.
- Authentic Tone: Optimized to provide the classic warmth and projection required for Latin and Afro-Cuban styles.
Use Cases
- Professional Performance: Ideal for touring musicians who require a reliable, high-quality replacement head that maintains tuning stability.
- Studio Recording: Perfect for engineers and artists seeking the natural, non-synthetic resonance of rawhide for a more traditional recording.
- Instrument Restoration: The go-to choice for reviving older LP bongos to their original factory sound specifications.
Installation
Replacing your bongo head is a straightforward process. Ensure the old head is completely removed and the bearing edge of the drum is clean and free of debris. Place the new rawhide head over the shell and tighten the tuning lugs in a cross-pattern sequence to ensure even tension across the surface. Because rawhide is a natural material, it may require a short period of “settling” and fine-tuning to reach your desired pitch.
