Key Details
- Heavy-Duty Construction: Forged from high-quality iron to ensure a long lifespan and a powerful, metallic projection.
- Versatile Mounting System: Features a flexible design that allows for both traditional rope-lacing attachment and modern rack mounting.
- Integrated Clamp: Includes a dedicated clamp that expands playing options, allowing the bell to be positioned for vertical or upright playing styles.
- Removable Hardware: The wingnut and bolt assembly can be easily removed, enabling the bell to be slid directly through the ropes for horizontal playing positions.
- Complete Package: Comes supplied with a dedicated iron striker to ensure the correct attack and tonal response.
Use Cases
- Traditional African Drumming: Ideal for those playing the Kenkeni (small) role within a Djun Djun set, providing the steady rhythmic pulse.
- Drum Circles: An excellent addition to community drum circles where a loud, clear metallic signal is needed to lead or accent the rhythm.
- Hybrid Percussion Rigs: Using the included clamp, percussionists can mount the bell to a standard percussion rack or drum kit stand for easy access during multi-instrumental performances.
Installation
This bell offers two primary installation methods depending on your performance setup:
- Traditional Method: Remove the wingnut and bolt assembly. Slide one half of the bell through the lacing/ropes of the Djun Djun drum to secure it to the side of the shell.
- Rack Mount Method: Keep the clamp and wingnut assembly attached. Use the clamp to secure the bell to a rack mount, which is particularly useful when playing the drums in a vertical, upright position.
Compatibility
This bell is specifically designed for use with the Kenkeni (small) size Djun Djun drum. It is compatible with standard drum lacing systems and universal percussion rack mounts via the included clamp.
