Description
Overview
The Jay Weinberg 908 Drumstick is a precision-engineered tool born from a total collaboration between artist Jay Weinberg and Vater Percussion. Designed to meet the extreme demands of high-energy performance—specifically the requirements of playing in a band like Slipknot—the 908 balances response, tone, and feel without compromising on durability or comfort.
This signature model blends the best features of several Vater designs into a single, versatile stick. It is specifically crafted for drummers who need a tool that can handle aggressive rock and groove playing while remaining agile enough for fast fills and high-tempo sections.
Key Details
- Hybrid Sizing: Positioned perfectly between a 5A and 5B to provide a comfortable, familiar grip that suits a wide variety of hand sizes and playing styles.
- Extended Reach: Features an additional 1/4-inch in length compared to standard models, offering increased leverage and reach across the kit.
- Optimized Taper: A quick taper design creates a slight forward throw, ensuring a fast response and effortless rebound.
- Medium Barrel Tip: The medium-sized barrel tip is engineered to deliver a defined, articulate ride cymbal tone and full drum resonance while maintaining enough volume to cut through dense mixes.
- Premium American Hickory: Constructed from high-grade Shellbark and Shagbark Hickory, selected for superior shock absorption and durability.

- Groove-Oriented Drumming: Provides the necessary weight for straight-ahead rock and groove playing while remaining comfortable for long sessions.
Installation
No installation is required. These sticks are ready for immediate use upon delivery. For optimal longevity, it is recommended to rotate sticks regularly during high-impact performances to prevent premature wear on the tips.
Compatibility
The Jay Weinberg 908 is compatible with all standard acoustic drum kits, including snare drums, tom-toms, and a wide array of cymbals. Its hybrid sizing makes it a suitable replacement for drummers currently using 5A or 5B sticks who are looking for a specialized balance of power and speed.
