Overview
The Tycoon Percussion Hand-carved African Djembe is a professional-grade percussion instrument designed to deliver the authentic, powerful sound of West Africa. Meticulously handcrafted from a single piece of sun-dried Ghanaian Hardwood, this 12″ djembe combines traditional carving techniques with durable materials to ensure a resonant, high-quality acoustic experience.
Featuring a natural varnish finish and a robust construction, this drum is engineered for players who require a wide dynamic range, from thunderous low-end bass to piercing, sharp slap tones.
Key Details
- Premium Construction: Carved from a single block of sun-dried Ghanaian Hardwood for maximum structural integrity and tonal resonance.
- Dynamic Sonic Range: Specifically voiced to produce deep, loud bass tones and high, sharp slap tones for versatile rhythmic expression.
- Heavy-Duty Tuning: Equipped with 5mm extra-strong non-stretch rope, allowing for easier tuning and long-term tension stability.
- Professional Finish: Treated with a natural varnish that protects the wood while highlighting the organic grain of the hardwood.

- Cultural Events: Perfect for ceremonial use or community gatherings requiring a traditional West African sound.
Installation
This instrument arrives ready for use, though initial tuning may be required to reach your preferred pitch. Use the 5mm non-stretch rope system to tighten the head; ensure the rope is pulled evenly around the circumference of the shell to maintain a balanced tension across the drum skin. Avoid over-tightening beyond the limits of the hardwood shell.
Compatibility
This is a standalone acoustic percussion instrument. It is compatible with any standard performance environment and does not require external power or electronic amplification, though it can be miked for amplified settings using standard percussion microphones.
