Key Details
- Material Construction: Durable nylon fibers designed to withstand the high tension of snare engagement without premature stretching or snapping.
- Multi-Pack Value: Supplied as a 6-pack, ensuring you have ample replacements on hand for multiple drums or future maintenance.
- Vintage Specification: Engineered to meet the requirements of traditional snare drum designs that utilize cord-based tensioning systems.
- Consistent Tension: Provides a stable pull across the snare wires to eliminate unwanted buzzing and ensure a clean, centered strike.
Use Cases
- Vintage Restoration: Ideal for musicians restoring classic snare drums that rely on nylon cording rather than modern spring-loaded systems.
- Tone Customization: Use these cords to adjust the “tightness” of your snare wires, moving from a loose, fat sound to a tight, aggressive crack.
- Touring Maintenance: A critical addition to a drummer’s hardware kit to quickly replace snapped cords during rehearsals or live performances.
Installation
Replacing snare cords typically involves loosening the snare strainer to release tension, removing the old worn or snapped cord from the snare bed and strainer mechanism, and threading the new Gibraltar nylon cord through the designated anchor points. Once secured, tighten the strainer to the desired tension and tune your snare wires for optimal response.
Compatibility
These cords are designed for use with snare drums featuring vintage-style corded snare beds. They are compatible with a wide range of traditional snare drum brands and models that utilize nylon cord tensioning. Please verify your drum’s snare bed mechanism to ensure it accepts replacement cording.
