Description

Product Overview

Overview

The Gem EQP by Overloud is a high-fidelity emulation of three iconic passive EQ units integrated into a single powerful plugin. Designed for engineers and producers who crave the warmth and richness of vintage hardware, Gem EQP utilizes Overloud’s proprietary Harmonic Matching technique to obsessively recreate the original harmonic generation of legendary analog circuits.

By combining the unique tonal character of passive designs with the precision of digital control, Gem EQP delivers the “fat” and “warm” sound associated with classic recording studios, while adding modern enhancements like a programmable clipper and real-time frequency visualization to extend the capabilities of the original hardware.

What Stands Out

Key Details

  • Three Iconic EQ Modules:
    • Low and High Unit: Features two bands with independent boost and attenuation parameters, plus a dedicated treble attenuation control. The offset centering of attenuation versus boost allows for precise dips after boosted frequencies, resulting in deep lows and a smooth, focused top-end.
    • MID Unit: Equipped with two boosting bands and one attenuation band. This module emulates a fully passive circuit with input and output transformers that add musical harmonics to transients.
    • Bandwidth Control: A dedicated passive circuit allows for musical selection of bandwidth to tailor the EQ curve to the source material.
  • Analog Modeling: Emulates the input transformer and output tube amplifier stages of the original hardware to provide deep bass and musical harmonic saturation.
  • Advanced Digital Tools:
    • Programmable Clipper: An integrated tool to enhance transients and add punch to recordings.
    • Visual Feedback: A real-time frequency response graphic display for the individual modules or the entire unit.
    • Calibration: Internal operating level calibration to modify harmonic generation.
  • Workflow Enhancements: Includes a resizable graphic interface, selectable high oversampling mode for increased audio quality, and a multilevel undo-redo system.
Best For

Use Cases

  • Mixing & Mastering: Adding “weight” and warmth to a master bus or individual stems using the rich, passive-style curves.
  • Vocal Processing: Utilizing the MID unit to carve out a detailed midrange or the High unit to add a smooth, analog-style sheen to vocals.
  • Drum Shaping: Using the integrated programmable clipper to add punch and snap to transients while controlling the low-end bloom.
  • Production: Quickly dialing in classic “record” sounds without the need for expensive, bulky outboard hardware.
