Description
Overview
Fixate:Midrange is an intelligent midrange correction plugin designed to eliminate the most common sonic conflicts in the busiest region of your mix. By targeting the specific areas where melody, harmony, texture, and ambience fight for space, it clears mud, tames harshness, and restores professional tonal balance without the need for tedious manual EQing.
The plugin utilizes a streamlined Analyze and Fix workflow, allowing users to achieve a polished sound in two steps. For those who prefer manual control, the interface provides visual hints and real-time metering to guide the ear toward the perfect result, ensuring your mix retains its original character while removing distracting resonances.
Key Details
- Six Intelligent Dynamic Processors: Dedicated processors specifically targeting Mud, Thinness, Honk, Nasalness, Harshness, and Spectral Balance.
- Signal-Dependent Correction: Every processor is dynamic, activating only when a specific problem is detected in the audio signal.
- Critical-Band Resonance Detection: Processing is modeled on human hearing to identify and resolve frequencies that are most offensive to the listener.
- Advanced Spectral Balance: Correction occurs across 15 frequency bands with the ability to use learnable profiles.
- M/S Processing: Independent Mid and Side channel processing for precise spatial control.
- HINTMAP Visuals: A real-time Resonance Meter with an integrated HINTMAP display that highlights problem areas across knobs and meters.
- Precision Monitoring: Includes per-band Enable, Solo, and Delta listening tools to hear exactly what is being removed or added.
Use Cases
- Master Bus Polishing: Quickly resolve spectral imbalances and harshness across the entire mix to create a commercial, radio-ready sound.
- Vocal Cleanup: Use dedicated vocal profiles to remove “cheap” sounding resonances, nasal tones, or harshness in lead and backing vocals.
- Instrument Bus Taming: Apply to unruly guitar buses or synth groups to clear out mud and “honk” without killing the life of the performance.
- Dialogue Restoration: Fix problematic midrange frequencies in spoken word or dialogue tracks for clearer intelligibility.
- Reference Matching: Drag and drop any reference track into the plugin to let Fixate automatically learn and apply a target tonal balance.
