Description
Overview
The Vater Extended Play Series 5B Wood Tip Drumsticks represent a significant innovation in stick durability, specifically engineered to combat the most common points of failure for hardworking drummers. Developed by the Vater R&D team over 14 months of rigorous testing, these sticks are designed to eliminate breakage caused by wear in the rimshot area while maintaining the natural feel and balance of a premium hickory stick.
Key Details
- Advanced Rimshot Protection: Features an exclusive 3-inch “Stick Shield” located in the rimshot area. This impact-resistant shield is 8X stronger than steel with maximum tensile strength to prevent fatigue and snapping.
- Enhanced Tip Durability: A specially formulated, pearl-colored durable finish protects the tip and shoulder area, significantly reducing early chipping and cracking.
- Premium American Hickory: Constructed from high-quality Shellbark and Shagbark Hickory, selected for superior shock absorption and strength.
- Precision Moisture Control: Vater utilizes dowels with a strict moisture content of 10%-12%, specifically optimized for striking tools to ensure consistent feel and longevity.
- Classic 5B Profile: Provides the traditional weight and diameter of a 5B stick, offering a versatile balance of power and control.
- Standard Grip Finish: The grip area retains the same professional, comfortable finish found on all standard Vater sticks for a familiar hand-feel.
Use Cases
- Heavy Hitters: Ideal for drummers who play with high velocity and frequently utilize rimshots, which typically wear down standard sticks quickly.
- Live Performance: Perfect for touring musicians who need reliable gear that can withstand multiple high-energy sets without mid-show breakage.
- Studio Recording: Great for sessions requiring the punch and projection of a 5B stick but with the added confidence of reinforced durability.
- Genre Versatility: Suitable for Rock, Metal, and Pop where aggressive snare work and heavy cymbal crashes are common.
Installation
No installation or assembly is required. These sticks are ready for immediate use upon removal from the packaging.
Compatibility
These drumsticks are compatible with all standard acoustic drum kits, snare drums, and percussion instruments. They are specifically optimized for use with drums featuring metal rims where rimshot techniques are employed.
