Description
Overview
The Vater Extended Play Series 5A Nylon Tip Drumsticks represent a significant leap in stick durability, engineered by the Vater R&D team to eliminate common failure points. Designed for drummers who demand the classic feel of a 5A but struggle with frequent breakage in the rimshot area, these sticks integrate advanced material science to extend the life of your gear without sacrificing the natural balance of American Hickory.
Key Details
- Stick Shield Technology: Features an exclusive 3-inch “Stick Shield” located specifically in the rimshot area. This impact-resistant reinforcement is 8X stronger than steel with maximum tensile strength, virtually eliminating breakage due to rimshot fatigue.
- Protective Finish: A specially formulated pearl-colored durable finish covers the tip and shoulder area, protecting the wood from early chipping and cracking.
- Premium American Hickory: Constructed from high-grade Shellbark and Shagbark Hickory, moisture-controlled to 10%-12% to ensure optimal shock absorption and striking consistency.
- Nylon Tip: Equipped with a nylon tip for increased durability and a distinct, bright attack on cymbals and drums.
- Classic Grip: The grip area maintains the same professional, great-feeling finish found on all standard Vater sticks for a secure and comfortable hold.
Use Cases
- Heavy Rimshot Playing: Ideal for rock, funk, or marching styles where aggressive rimshots typically lead to rapid stick degradation.
- High-Volume Performance: Perfect for touring drummers who need a reliable stick that can withstand multiple high-energy shows without failing.
- Studio Recording: The 5A profile provides the versatility needed for a wide range of dynamics, while the nylon tip ensures a consistent “ping” on ride cymbals.
Installation
No installation is required. These sticks are ready for immediate use. For best results, ensure your drum hoops are properly seated to maximize the effectiveness of the Stick Shield during rimshots.
Compatibility
Compatible with all standard acoustic drum kits, electronic drum pads, and percussion instruments. Designed for players who prefer the 5A diameter and weight profile.
