Product Overview

Overview

The Choptones Bogie 2×12 Demon SuperCabinet IR Library is a professional-grade impulse response collection designed to deliver the aggressive, high-definition sound of a legendary Mesa* Boogie 2×12 Horizontal cabinet. Equipped with Hesu* Demon speakers and constructed from Marine Grade Baltic Birch plywood, this closed-back, straight-front cabinet is engineered for the modern metal era. It provides an extended frequency range and exceptional clarity, making it the ideal choice for down-tuned guitars and high-gain productions where definition is critical.

To ensure absolute precision, these captures were recorded using a motorized mic stand, providing consistent measurements across the entire library. With over 300 IRs, this library offers a systematic approach to tone shaping, utilizing 12 different microphones, multiple positions, and two distinct high-end mic preamps (including a Neve* 1073) to give you total control over your guitar’s sonic footprint.

What Stands Out

Key Details

  • Comprehensive Capture Set: Over 300 IRs globally, featuring 12 microphones with 8 to 16 positions each.
  • Precision Positioning: Every microphone was captured at four horizontal positions (Cap, Cap Edge, Cone, and Cone Edge) and two different distances.
  • Advanced Variations: Includes off-axis measurements (45 degrees) for selected microphones to add depth and air to the tone.
  • Premium Signal Chain: All captures were processed through two different preamps—a Neve* 1073 and a German preamp—for varied harmonic character.
  • Phase Aligned: All IRs are phase-aligned, allowing you to blend multiple captures without experiencing phase cancellation.
  • Included Microphone Models:
    • Audio Technica* 2035
    • Beyerdynamic* M160
    • Electrovoice* RE20
    • Sennheiser* MD21
    • Sennheiser* MD421
    • Sennheiser* MD441
  • SuperCabinet Integration: Allows for graphical IR browsing, blending for huge stereo tones, and a unique Multiband mode for custom cabinet composition.
  • Flexible Export: Crafted IRs can be exported in .wav format for use in any hardware modeler or software IR loader.
Best For

Use Cases

  • Modern Metal Production: Perfect for high-gain rhythms and lead tones that require the tight low-end and cutting mids associated with the last decade of metal.
  • Down-Tuned Guitars: Specifically optimized to maintain clarity and definition when using low tunings that typically become “muddy” in standard cabinets.
  • Custom Tone Design: Use the blending and Multiband features within SuperCabinet to create a signature cabinet response that doesn’t exist in the real world.
  • Hybrid Workflows: Export the refined .wav IRs to use in your favorite hardware amp modelers for live performance consistency.
