Description

Product Overview

Overview

The Choptones ADA 2×12 G12S50 SuperCabinet IR Library is a professional-grade impulse response collection designed to recreate the iconic guitar tones of the 80s and 90s. This library is a meticulous capture of an ADA 2×12 cabinet equipped with Celestion G12S-50 speakers, known for their balanced response and characteristic boost in the high-mids.

Developed for use with the Overloud SuperCabinet or TH-U Premium, this library provides an extensive and systematic approach to cabinet emulation. By utilizing a motorized mic stand for absolute consistency, Choptones has delivered a massive palette of over 300 IRs, allowing users to dial in the exact sonic footprint of this vintage stage staple.

What Stands Out

Key Details

Extensive Capture Set: Includes more than 300 IRs in total, providing a comprehensive range of tonal options.
Precision Mic Placement: Captured using 11 different microphones, with 8 to 16 positions per microphone.
Systematic Positioning: Each microphone was mapped across four horizontal positions (Cap, Cap Edge, Cone, and Cone Edge) and two different distances.
Advanced Axis Options: Select microphones include off-axis measurements (45 degrees) for added depth and texture.
Premium Signal Chain: All measurement sets were recorded through two distinct high-end mic preamps: a Neve 1073 and a German preamp.
Visual Workflow: Specifically designed for the TH-U SuperCabinet, enabling users to graphically browse and select IRs within the library.

Best For

Use Cases

Vintage Tone Recreation: Ideal for guitarists and producers seeking the authentic, balanced high-mid punch of 80s-era ADA cabinets.
Professional Mixing: Perfect for studio engineers who need a wide variety of mic positions and preamp flavors to fit a guitar track into a dense mix.
Sound Design: Useful for creating repeatable, high-fidelity guitar textures in composing and production sessions.
Live Performance: Provides a consistent, studio-quality cabinet sound without the need for physical microphones or heavy hardware.
