Product Overview

Overview

The Choptones Bogie Dual Recto 3CH is a professional expansion library for the Overloud TH-U platform, meticulously designed to recreate the sonic characteristics of the legendary Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier 100-watt three-channel head. This library provides guitarists and producers with a massive collection of 228 high-fidelity rigs, capturing the essence of one of the most influential high-gain amplifiers in history.

To provide maximum tonal versatility, Choptones captured the amplifier using two different power tube configurations. The first set of captures utilizes the original 6L6 power tubes for that classic, scooped Recto punch. The second set utilizes EL34 power tubes, resulting in a darker, more rock-oriented tone while maintaining the signature bite and aggression of the original circuit.

What Stands Out

Key Details

  • Comprehensive Rig Collection: 228 total rigs covering multiple tube configurations and cabinet pairings.
  • Dual Tube Captures: Includes both 6L6 (classic) and EL34 (darker, rock-focused) power tube captures.
  • Premium Cabinet Selection:
    • Mesa Boogie 4×12 (Celestion C90)
    • Mesa Boogie 2×12 (Celestion V30)
    • EVH 5150III 4×12 (Celestion G12EVH)
    • Randall 4×12 (Celestion V30)
    • Marshall 1960 4×12 (Celestion G12T75)
    • Engl 4×12 (Celestion V60)
    • Hughes & Kettner 4×12 (Celestion G12M)
  • Professional Microphone Array: Captured using industry-standard mics including the Sennheiser MD421, Sennheiser MD409, Beyerdynamic M160, Electrovoice RE20, and the Mesa Boogie Grid Slammer.
Best For

Use Cases

  • High-Gain Production: Ideal for modern metal, hard rock, and nu-metal productions requiring the thick, saturated distortion of a Dual Rectifier.
  • Studio Mixing: Perfect for producers who need a “finished” amp sound without the need for a physical high-wattage stack and complex mic placement.
  • Sound Design: Useful for creating aggressive guitar textures and repeatable software-based amp tones for consistent project recall.
