Description

Product Overview

Overview

The Bogie 2×12 GOV is a professional-grade Impulse Response (IR) library developed by Choptones for the Overloud ecosystem. This library is a meticulous capture of a legendary Mesa Boogie 2×12 Horizontal cabinet featuring Eminence The Governor speakers. Built with a straight front, closed back, and Marine Grade Baltic Birch plywood, this cabinet is renowned for its focused, rich tone that bridges the gap between classic British attitude and modern high-gain sparkle.

Designed for maximum versatility, the Bogie 2×12 GOV provides a massive sonic palette of over 300 IRs. These captures were performed using a motorized mic stand to ensure absolute consistency across the library, providing producers and guitarists with a systematic approach to dialing in the perfect cabinet tone for rock, blues, and everything in between.

What Stands Out

Key Details

  • Extensive Capture Set: Includes over 300 IRs created using 12 different microphones, with 8 to 16 positions per microphone.
  • Precision Positioning: Every microphone was captured at four horizontal positions (Cap, Cap Edge, Cone, and Cone Edge) and two different distances.
  • Advanced Axis Options: Select microphones include off-axis captures (45 degrees) for added depth and spatial realism.
  • Premium Signal Chain: All measurement sets were recorded through two world-class preamps: a Neve 1073 and a high-end German preamp.
  • Diverse Microphone Selection: Features captures from industry-standard mics including:
    • Audio Technica 2035
    • Beyerdynamic M160
    • Electrovoice RE20
    • Sennheiser MD21
    • Sennheiser MD421
    • Sennheiser MD441
Best For

Use Cases

  • High-Gain Rock & Metal: Leverage the closed-back Recto Cab construction for a tight, punchy low-end and aggressive mid-range.
  • Blues & Classic Rock: Utilize the “British-style” attitude of the Governor speakers to achieve a rich, organic overdrive.
  • Crystal Clean Tones: Take advantage of the extra top-end sparkle for shimmering cleans that cut through a dense mix.
  • Custom Tone Shaping: Use the SuperCabinet Multiband mode to compose entirely new cabinet responses or blend multiple IRs for massive stereo guitar productions.
Setup Notes

Installation

The Bogie 2×12 GOV is a digital expansion library. To use these IRs, you must have either TH-U Premium or the SuperCabinet plugin installed on your system. Once the library is added, you can graphically browse the IRs, blend them in real-time, and export your final crafted tones as .wav files for use in other hardware modelers or software IR loaders.
