Product Overview

Overview

The BM M800 KK Rig Library for TH-U is a high-gain expansion created by Bert Meulendijk, meticulously capturing the fierce, aggressive tone of the Marshall* JCM800 Kerry King signature head. This library leverages Overloud’s proprietary capturing technology to reproduce the entire signal chain—including the amplifier, cabinet, microphones, preamplifier, and room acoustics—providing a raw and edgy sonic profile that is essential for modern metal and hard rock.

Designed as a modded 800, this rig features a specialized shaping and boosting circuit based on the Kerry King “reverse shape” EQ. To further enhance its aggression, the power amp stage utilizes KT88 power tubes instead of standard EL34s, delivering a more visceral and cutting response. This library is compatible with the Rig Player in TH-U and includes a license for TH-U Essentials, ensuring you have the necessary platform to run these rigs immediately.

What Stands Out

Key Details

  • Comprehensive Rig Collection: Includes 62 full rigs, 7 DI rigs, and 16 curated patches to cover a wide spectrum of high-gain tones.
  • Signature Controls: Captures the specific behavior of the “Beast” switch and “Assault” knob, with multiple captures across various parameter settings.
  • Advanced Power Stage: Modeled with KT88 power tubes for a raw, edgy, and modern high-gain character.
  • Exclusive Effects: Includes two custom effects designed by Bert Meulendijk: the Stryverb reverb for rich ambiences and a Parallel Compressor for precise dynamic control.
  • Hybrid Technology: Utilizes a combination of amp modeling and amp capturing to ensure the nonlinear and dynamic response of the real hardware is preserved.
  • Premium Bonus: TH-U Premium owners are eligible to download an additional bonus bank of patches.
Best For

Use Cases

  • Modern Metal Production: Ideal for producers and guitarists needing the precise, cutting aggression of a signature Kerry King tone for rhythm tracks and leads.
  • High-Gain Sound Design: Perfect for creating dense, saturated guitar walls that maintain clarity and punch in a dense mix.
  • Fast-Turnaround Mixing: Use the pre-configured rigs and patches to quickly dial in a professional “record-ready” sound without extensive tweaking.
  • Virtual Rig Exploration: Allows users to experiment with various cabinet and microphone combinations of the JCM800 KK without needing the physical hardware.
