Description

Product Overview

Overview

The BHS Iconic 3 Rockin’ Racks Rig Library for TH-U is a specialized collection designed by Michael Nielsen to recreate the most influential rock and studio rack tones of the 1980s and 1990s. As the third installment in the “Iconic” series from Big Hairy Sounds, this library focuses on the high-gain, polished, and processed sounds that defined an era of professional studio production.

Unlike standard modeling, this library utilizes Overloud’s proprietary capturing technology. It captures the entire signal chain—including the amplifier, cabinet, microphones, mic preamplifier, and specific room acoustics—to provide a dynamic and nonlinear response that mirrors real-world hardware setups.

What Stands Out

Key Details

  • Extensive Rig Collection: Includes 61 captured rigs and 12 distinct amps and preamps.
  • Artist-Inspired Tones: 42 dedicated artist patches inspired by legendary tones, including sounds reminiscent of Eddie Van Halen, Tom Scholz (Boston), and Chad Taylor.
  • Captured Hardware: Features high-fidelity captures of iconic gear including the Rockman XPR100, Mesa Boogie Quad Preamp, Marshall Silver Jubilee, Bogner Ecstasy, Marshall JCM800 2203, Marshall 1959 Superlead, Gallien Krueger 250ML, Matchless GPR-1 Preamp, and Roger Mayer 12AX7 Preamp.
  • TH-U Essentials Included: Every Rig Library comes with a license for TH-U Essentials, providing the Rig Player and a basic set of popular amps, cabs, and effects to ensure immediate usability.
Best For

Use Cases

  • 80s/90s Studio Production: Perfect for producers seeking the “expensive” rack-mount sound characteristic of late 20th-century rock records.
  • Hair Metal & Arena Rock: Ideal for guitarists needing high-gain, saturated leads and tight rhythms.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Use the 42 artist patches to quickly find a professional starting point for a track without spending hours on signal chain routing.
  • Hybrid Workflows: Combine captured rigs with TH-U’s modeling capabilities to create unique, modern hybrid tones.
Setup Notes

Installation

Software authorization is a streamlined, one-click procedure that does not require a physical hardware key (dongle). Upon purchase, a TH-U Essentials license is deposited directly into your Overloud account during the authorization of the Rig Library.

Users can authorize the software on up to three computers and one additional USB drive for flexible movement between studio and home setups.
