The Friedman Handwired 100W Rig Library for TH-U brings the legendary tone of “Shirley’s Dirty Brown Eye” directly into your digital studio. This exclusive collection features 78 high-fidelity rigs captured from a one-of-a-kind custom amplifier hand-wired by Dave Friedman. By merging the characteristics of a 100W BE-100 Brown Eye with a unique 100W Dirty Shirley, this library provides a massive sonic palette ranging from refined D-style cleans to a colossal wall-of-sound high-gain experience.
Utilizing Overloud’s proprietary capturing technology, these rigs go beyond simple modeling. They capture the entire signal chain—including the nonlinear dynamic response of the amplifier, the cabinet, the microphones, the mic preamplifier, and the specific room acoustics—ensuring an authentic, studio-grade guitar tone.
What Stands Out
Key Details
The SDBE Amplifier: A 2-channel 100W head featuring a tuned 4 EL34 power section.
Dual Sonic Identities: Includes the classic Brown Eye specimen and the “Dirty Shirley” channel, which offers the warmth of the DS40 with increased headroom and a tighter, more complex bottom end.
Premium Cabinetry: All rigs are captured using a British 4×12″ cabinet equipped with a professional blend of Greenbacks and V30 speakers.
Extensive Library: 78 meticulously captured rigs providing a wide array of tonal variations.
Dynamic Rig Player: Integrated into TH-U, the Rig Player reproduces every nuance of the sampled rigs and allows for the combination of different setup models.
Flexible Routing: The Rig Player automatically switches to the DI Rig if the cabinet section is disabled, allowing you to use your own IRs.
Best For
Use Cases
High-Gain Production: Perfect for rock and metal tracks requiring a “wall-of-sound” impact with tight low-end definition.
Classic Rock Tones: Ideal for achieving the iconic “Brown Sound” and D-style cleans for versatile session work.
Professional Mixing: Use the captured room and mic characteristics to get a “finished” guitar sound that requires minimal EQ and processing.
Live Performance: Deploy the standalone application for low-latency, high-gain tones on stage without the weight of a 100W stack.
