Description
Overview
The Remo Diplomat Fiberskyn Batter Drum Head is a specialized percussion surface designed to provide a warm, organic tone with a focused response. By combining the lightweight characteristics of the Diplomat series with the innovative Fiberskyn material, this head delivers a sound that mimics the natural warmth of calfskin while offering the consistency and durability of modern synthetic materials.
Key Details
- Fiberskyn Technology: Engineered to provide a warmer, more natural tone than standard clear or coated heads, effectively bridging the gap between synthetic and animal skin.
- Diplomat Series Construction: Features a single-ply design that allows for a more open sound and increased resonance compared to heavier two-ply heads.
- Batter Position: Specifically designed as a batter head to withstand the direct impact of sticks or mallets while maintaining optimal tension.
- Precision Sizing: 8″ diameter, tailored for small drums, tom-toms, or specialized percussion instruments.
Use Cases
- World Percussion: Ideal for drummers seeking a traditional, “earthy” sound for ethnic or world percussion setups without the tuning instability of real calfskin.
- Studio Recording: Perfect for recording sessions where a warm, rounded attack is required to avoid harsh high-end transients.
- Small Tom-Toms: An excellent choice for 8″ rack toms to provide a punchy yet warm tone that cuts through a mix.
Installation
To install the Remo Diplomat Fiberskyn head, place the head onto the drum shell and ensure it is centered. Insert the hoop and tighten the tension rods in a cross-pattern (star pattern) to ensure even pressure across the bearing edge. Tune the head to your desired pitch, keeping in mind that Fiberskyn responds well to moderate tension to preserve its characteristic warmth.
Compatibility
- Drum Diameter: Compatible with any drum or percussion instrument with an 8″ diameter bearing edge.
- Head Type: Designed for use as a batter (top) head.
