Description
Overview
The Remo Diplomat Fiberskyn Batter Drum Head is a specialized percussion surface designed to provide a unique tonal balance and enhanced durability. By combining the lightweight characteristics of the Diplomat series with the innovative Fiberskyn material, this 14″ head offers a warmer, more organic sound compared to traditional clear films, making it an ideal choice for drummers seeking a “vintage” feel with modern reliability.
Key Details
- Fiberskyn Technology: Integrates synthetic fibers into the film to reduce harsh overtones and provide a warmer, more natural resonance.
- Diplomat Series Construction: A single-ply design that offers a great balance of sustain and attack without the excessive weight of double-ply heads.
- Optimized Diameter: Specifically engineered at 14 inches to fit standard snare drums or tom-toms.
- Batter Position: Designed specifically for the top (batter) side of the drum to withstand direct striking.
Use Cases
- Studio Recording: Perfect for engineers and drummers who want a controlled, warm tone that requires less EQ to remove “pingy” high-end frequencies.
- Jazz and Acoustic Sets: Ideal for genres requiring a softer attack and a more mellow, woody resonance.
- Hybrid Percussion: Useful for players who want the durability of a synthetic head but the sonic characteristics of a traditional skin.
Installation
To install the Remo Diplomat Fiberskyn head, ensure the drum bearing edge is clean and free of debris. Place the head centered over the shell and insert the hoop. Tighten the tension rods in a cross-pattern (star pattern) to ensure even pressure across the head. Tune to your preferred pitch, keeping in mind that Fiberskyn responds well to moderate tension for maximum warmth.
Compatibility
- Drum Size: Fits any drum with a 14″ shell diameter.
- Position: Designed for use as a Batter (top) head.
- Hardware: Compatible with standard drum hoops and tension rod systems.
