Description
Overview
The Remo Diplomat Fiberskyn Batter Drum Head is a specialized percussion surface designed for drummers seeking a unique tonal balance and enhanced durability. Combining the lightweight characteristics of the Diplomat series with the innovative Fiberskyn material, this 10-inch batter head provides a warm, organic sound that mimics the feel of traditional skin while offering the consistency and longevity of modern synthetic materials.
Key Details
- Fiberskyn Technology: Engineered to provide a warmer, more natural tone compared to standard clear or coated heads.
- Diplomat Series Construction: A single-ply design that offers a balanced response and a focused attack.
- Optimized Diameter: Specifically sized at 10 inches for use on small toms, snare drums, or custom percussion setups.
- Batter Position: Designed specifically for the top (strike) side of the drum to withstand direct impact.
Use Cases
- Studio Recording: Ideal for engineers and drummers who need a “vintage” or “woody” sound without the tuning instability of natural calfskin.
- World Percussion: Excellent for hybrid setups where a blend of traditional ethnic percussion tones and modern drum kit projection is required.
- Jazz and Fusion: Perfect for players requiring a softer attack and a warmer decay on smaller tom-toms.
Installation
To install the Remo Diplomat Fiberskyn head, ensure the drum bearing edge is clean and free of debris. Place the head centered over the shell and insert the hoop. Tighten the tension rods in a cross-pattern (star pattern) to ensure even pressure across the head. Tune slowly to the desired pitch to avoid overstressing the Fiberskyn material.
Compatibility
This drum head is compatible with any drum, tom, or percussion instrument featuring a 10-inch diameter bearing edge. It is designed for use as a batter (top) head.
