Description

Product Overview

Overview

The Angel 4×12 NeoCream is a professional-grade Impulse Response (IR) library developed by Choptones for the Overloud ecosystem. This library is a meticulous capture of an Engl E412VSB 4×12 cabinet equipped with Celestion Neo Creamback speakers. Designed for guitarists who require a balance of traditional warmth and modern punch, this library provides a massive sonic palette specifically tailored for metal and high-gain productions.

The source cabinet features a slanted front, closed-back design, and solid Siberian Birch plywood construction. By utilizing Neodymium magnets, the G12 Neo Creamback speakers deliver the legendary tone of a traditional Creamback while maintaining a punchy midrange, refined top-end, and significantly reduced weight. To ensure absolute precision, all captures were performed using a motorized mic stand for consistent measurements across the entire library.

What Stands Out

Key Details

This library offers an extensive and systematic approach to cabinet emulation, featuring over 300 high-resolution IRs. The capture process utilized 11 different microphones, multiple positions, and premium preamp chains to ensure maximum versatility.

  • Comprehensive Mic Selection: Includes captures from industry-standard microphones including the Audio Technica 2035, Beyerdynamic M160, Electrovoice RE20, Sennheiser MD21, Sennheiser MD421, and Sennheiser MD441.
  • Precise Positioning: Every microphone was captured at four horizontal positions (Cap, Cap Edge, Cone, and Cone Edge) and two different distances.
  • Axis Variation: Selected microphones include off-axis captures (45 degrees) to provide more natural, airy textures.
  • Premium Signal Chain: All measurement sets were recorded through two distinct high-end preamps: a Neve 1073 and a specialized German preamp.
  • Advanced Workflow: When used within SuperCabinet, users can graphically browse IRs, blend multiple responses for massive stereo tones, and utilize a unique Multiband mode to compose custom cabinet tones.
  • Universal Export: Crafted IRs can be exported in .wav format for use with external hardware modelers and third-party software IR loaders.
Best For

Use Cases

  • Modern Metal Production: Ideal for high-gain rhythms where a tight low-end and punchy midrange are required to cut through a dense mix.
  • Studio-Grade Re-amping: Use the diverse mic positions and preamp choices to dial in the exact “sweet spot” of a professional studio environment without the physical gear.
  • Custom Tone Shaping: Blend multiple IRs to create wide, lush stereo guitar layers or use the Multiband mode to surgically adjust the frequency response of the cabinet.
Setup Notes

Installation

The Angel 4×12 NeoCream is a digital expansion library. Installation is performed via the Overloud authorization system, which is a simple one-click procedure requiring no hardware dongle. Users can authorize the software on up to three computers and one additional USB drive.

Important: This is an IR library and not a standalone plugin. TH-U Premium or SuperCabinet is required to load and utilize these responses.
