Description
Overview
The Gibraltar Amp Shield 4 Panel is a professional-grade acoustic isolation solution designed to manage guitar amplifier volume and direction. By creating a physical barrier between the amplifier and the rest of the room, this shield allows guitarists to maintain the necessary volume for optimal amp tone while preventing excessive sound bleed into microphones or the audience.
Key Details
- High-Clarity Construction: Features 4 durable acrylic/plexiglass panels that provide a transparent visual line of sight while blocking direct sound waves.
- Flexible Configuration: Panels are connected with flexible hinges, allowing you to angle the shield to perfectly suit your stage or studio layout.
- Substantial Coverage: Each of the four panels measures 18″ x 24″ (h), providing a significant acoustic footprint to isolate larger cabinets.
- Portable Design: Engineered for the working musician, balancing heavy-duty protection with a manageable weight for transport.
Use Cases
- Studio Recording: Place the shield around an amplifier to isolate the sound source, reducing “bleed” into other microphones and allowing for a cleaner, more controlled recording environment.
- Live Performance: Position the panels in front of the amp to block sound from hitting the audience head-on, helping the front-of-house engineer manage the mix and prevent stage volume from overpowering the vocals.
- Rehearsal Spaces: Control the volume levels in shared practice rooms by directing the amp’s projection away from other musicians.
Installation
Setup is straightforward and requires no tools. Simply unfold the flexible hinges to create a U-shape or a custom angled perimeter around your amplifier. Position the shield close to the front of the speaker cabinet to maximize the isolation effect. Because the panels are hinged, you can quickly collapse the unit for storage or transport.
Compatibility
This shield is compatible with all guitar amplifier cabinets, including combos and stacks. Its 18″ x 24″ panel dimensions are designed to accommodate a wide range of cabinet sizes, from small practice amps to full-sized 4×12 cabinets.
