Key Details
- Premium Material: Constructed from high-quality American Ash, known for its strength and bright, punchy acoustic response.
- Precision Dimensions: Measures 20″ in length and 14″ in width, providing a standard fit for compatible cajon shells.
- Ultra-Slim Profile: A height of 0.01″ ensures a tight, responsive surface that maximizes vibration and sound projection.
- Lightweight Build: Weighing only 0.82 lbs, it adds minimal mass to the instrument while maintaining structural integrity.
Use Cases
- Instrument Repair: Replacing a split or cracked front plate to restore the airtight seal necessary for deep bass notes.
- Tone Modification: Refreshing an old, dampened plate to bring back the crisp high-end “slap” characteristic of American Ash.
- Maintenance: Keeping a spare plate on hand for touring percussionists to avoid downtime during performances.
Installation
Installation involves removing the existing fasteners (screws or nails) from the damaged front plate. Once the old plate is removed, align the new American Ash plate centered on the cajon shell. Secure the plate using appropriate percussion hardware, ensuring the tension is balanced across the surface to avoid warping and to optimize the instrument’s resonance.
Compatibility
This replacement plate is designed for use with Tycoon Percussion cajons and other percussion boxes that match the 20″ x 14″ dimensional specifications. Please verify your instrument’s front plate measurements before purchase to ensure a seamless fit.

Casey Taylor –
It’s alright. Functions as expected but the sound character is somewhat generic. Fine for beginners.
