Description
Overview
The Gibraltar 3.0mm Power Hoop is a heavy-duty triple-flanged drum hoop designed for drummers who require increased structural rigidity and a more focused tone. By increasing the thickness to 3mm, Gibraltar provides a professional-grade alternative for those who want the stability and sonic characteristics of a die-cast hoop while maintaining the traditional feel and weight distribution of a triple-flanged design.
Key Details
- Enhanced Thickness: Featuring a 3mm build, these hoops are significantly more robust than standard triple-flanged options.
- Triple-Flanged Construction: Provides a balanced blend of strength and flexibility to ensure the drumhead seats properly.
- Die-Cast Alternative: Engineered to mimic the thickness and stability of die-cast hoops, offering improved tuning consistency and shell protection.
- Precision Engineering: Manufactured by Gibraltar to ensure a secure fit and reliable performance under high tension.
Use Cases
These hoops are ideal for drummers looking to upgrade their current hardware for specific sonic or durability goals:
- High-Tension Tuning: Perfect for players who tune their drums high and need a hoop that won’t warp or bend under extreme pressure.
- Increased Projection: Use these to achieve a more focused, punchy attack and increased volume compared to thinner hoops.
- Touring Durability: An excellent choice for gigging drummers who need hardware capable of withstanding the rigors of frequent transport and setup.
Installation
Installation is straightforward and requires only a standard drum key. Remove the existing hoop and tension rods, place the Gibraltar Power Hoop onto the bearing edge, and re-insert the tension rods. Ensure the hoop is seated evenly around the circumference of the shell before tightening the lugs in a cross-pattern to ensure an even seal and optimal head tension.
Compatibility
- Drum Type: Compatible with most standard drums featuring a bearing edge suitable for triple-flanged hoops.
- Size: Specifically designed for 14-inch diameter drums.
- Lug Configuration: Designed for 8-lug configurations.
