Description
Overview
The Gibraltar 3.0mm Power Hoop is a heavy-duty replacement rim designed for drummers who require increased stability and a specific tonal response. These triple-flanged hoops feature a substantial 3mm thickness, providing a structural rigidity that bridges the gap between standard triple-flanged hoops and the extreme stiffness of die-cast rims.
Key Details
- Heavy-Duty Construction: Built with a 3mm thickness to provide enhanced durability and shell support.
- Triple-Flanged Design: Offers a balanced blend of resonance and strength, ensuring the drum head remains secure under high tension.
- Die-Cast Alternative: Engineered for players seeking the focused tuning and stability associated with die-cast hoops without sacrificing the characteristics of a flanged rim.
- Versatile Sizing: Part of a comprehensive series available in sizes ranging from 8″ to 18″.
Use Cases
These Power Hoops are ideal for heavy hitters who frequently experience hoop deformation or head slippage. They are particularly effective for drummers looking to tighten the focus of their drum’s tone and increase the overall projection of the instrument. Whether you are upgrading a studio kit for more consistent tuning or reinforcing a touring kit for maximum reliability, the 3.0mm thickness provides the necessary reinforcement.
Installation
Installation is a straightforward process of replacing the existing rim. Remove the tension rods from the current hoop, place the Gibraltar Power Hoop onto the bearing edge, and re-insert the tension rods. Ensure the hoop is seated evenly around the circumference of the shell before tightening the lugs to avoid warping the head or the rim.
Compatibility
- Drum Type: Compatible with drums utilizing standard triple-flanged mounting systems.
- Configuration: Specifically designed for 18-Inch, 8-Lug drum shells.
- Hardware: Works with standard tension rods and lug configurations.
