Description
Overview
The Gibraltar 3.0mm Power Hoop is a heavy-duty triple-flanged drum hoop designed for drummers who require increased structural rigidity and a more focused tone. By increasing the thickness to 3mm, Gibraltar provides a professional-grade alternative for those seeking the stability and sonic characteristics of die-cast hoops while maintaining the traditional feel and weight distribution of a triple-flanged design.
Key Details
- Enhanced Thickness: Features a 3mm wall thickness, providing significantly more mass than standard triple-flanged hoops.
- Triple-Flanged Construction: Engineered for a balance of strength and resonance, ensuring the drumhead remains securely seated.
- Die-Cast Alternative: Specifically designed for players who want the increased tuning stability and “crack” associated with die-cast hoops without switching to a fully cast system.
- Precision Engineering: Built to Gibraltar’s rigorous hardware standards to ensure consistent fit and long-term durability under high tension.
Use Cases
- High-Tension Tuning: Ideal for drummers who tune their drums to very high pitches, where standard hoops may warp or flex.
- Heavy Hitters: Perfect for aggressive playing styles that require a hoop capable of withstanding intense impact and vibration.
- Tonal Refinement: Used by players looking to reduce unwanted overtones and achieve a more centered, focused fundamental pitch.
- Hardware Upgrades: An excellent choice for upgrading stock hoops on mid-range kits to improve overall shell stability.
Installation
Installation is straightforward and requires standard drum tuning tools. Remove the existing hoops and tension rods from the drum shell. Place the Gibraltar Power Hoop onto the bearing edge, ensuring it is centered. Reinsert the tension rods and tighten them in a cross-pattern to ensure even pressure across the head. Due to the 3mm thickness, ensure your tension rods are properly seated against the hoop flange for maximum security.
Compatibility
- Drum Type: Compatible with most standard drums utilizing triple-flanged hoop mounting.
- Configuration: This specific model is designed for 16-inch drums with a 6-lug configuration.
- Hardware: Works with standard tension rods and lug casings.
