Description
Overview
The Tycoon Percussion 29 Roundback Series American Ash Cajon is a professionally crafted percussion instrument designed for players seeking a blend of traditional warmth and modern tonal projection. Featuring a distinctive curved back panel and a striking Zebrano front plate, this cajon is individually hand-made and tested to ensure superior sound quality and consistent performance across its entire dynamic range.
Key Details
- Roundback Design: The unique curved back panel optimizes internal airflow and resonance, providing enhanced tonal qualities compared to standard flat-back cajons.
- Side-Mounted Sound Port: By relocating the sound port to the side, the instrument allows for better projection and prevents the “muffled” effect often experienced when sitting directly on a rear port.
- Premium Materials: Constructed with a durable American Ash body and a visually stunning Zebrano front plate for a balanced, punchy attack and rich sustain.
- Customizable Snare: Equipped with internal snare wires that are fully adjustable via an included Allen wrench, allowing the player to dial in the exact amount of “snap” or “buzz” required for their style.
Use Cases
- Acoustic Performances: Ideal for singer-songwriters and unplugged sessions where a portable, full-bodied drum sound is needed without a full kit.
- Genre Versatility: Perfect for Flamenco, Folk, Pop, and Jazz, offering both deep bass notes and crisp, high-end slaps.
- Street Performing: The lightweight construction and integrated seating make it a reliable choice for busking and mobile gigs.
Installation
This instrument arrives ready to play. To customize the snare response, use the included Allen wrench to adjust the tension of the snare wires located inside the chassis. Simply loosen or tighten the adjustment bolts to shift the sound from a dry, thumpy tone to a bright, snare-heavy crack.
Compatibility
This is a standalone physical percussion instrument. It is compatible with all standard percussion accessories, including cajon bags, external microphones for amplification, and percussion mats to prevent sliding during performance.
