The Tycoon Percussion 18″ Tunable Frame Drum is a professional-grade recreation of one of the world’s most ancient percussion instruments. Historically utilized in spiritual ceremonies and found across a vast array of global cultures, this frame drum blends traditional materials with modern tuning capabilities to provide a versatile sonic palette for the contemporary musician.
Key Details
- Eco-Friendly Construction: The shell is crafted from sustainable Siam Oak wood, ensuring a resonant tone and an environmentally conscious build.
- Authentic Head Material: Equipped with a natural goatskin head to deliver the warm, organic attack and rich sustain characteristic of traditional frame drums.
- Enhanced Stability: Features an integrated wooden cross positioned behind the head, providing critical structural support and preventing shell warping over time.
- Tunable Design: Unlike standard fixed-head models, this version allows for precise tension adjustments to achieve the desired pitch and timbre.

Use Cases
- World Music & Folk: Ideal for musicians exploring Middle Eastern, African, or Mediterranean rhythmic traditions.
- Spiritual & Meditative Practice: Perfect for ceremonial use, sound healing, or meditative drumming due to its deep, grounding resonance.
- Studio Recording: Adds an organic, earthy percussion layer to cinematic scores, ambient tracks, or acoustic arrangements.
- Live Performance: A lightweight and portable option for percussionists needing a distinct, non-kit drum sound on stage.
Installation
This instrument arrives ready for use. To optimize the sound, use the tuning mechanism to tighten or loosen the goatskin head until the desired pitch is reached. Ensure the drum is stored in a climate-controlled environment to maintain the tension of the natural skin head.
Compatibility
This is a standalone acoustic percussion instrument. It is compatible with any musical setting, from solo performance to ensemble play, and can be amplified using external contact microphones or overhead condensers.
