Key Details
- Precision Sizing: Specifically designed as a 12-inch diameter head to ensure a snug, secure fit on compatible Sangban shells.
- Authentic Tone: Crafted to deliver the traditional punch and warmth associated with West African percussion.
- Durable Construction: Built to withstand the high tension and striking force required for traditional Sangban playing styles.
- Lightweight Profile: Weighing only 0.99 lbs, it provides a responsive playing surface without adding unnecessary mass to the instrument.
Use Cases
- Maintenance & Repair: Ideal for replacing worn, stretched, or punctured heads to restore the drum’s original pitch and projection.
- Tonal Refresh: Use this replacement head to brighten the sound of an aging drum or to return a “dead” sounding instrument to its full sonic potential.
- Professional Performance: A reliable choice for touring percussionists who require a dependable spare head for mid-performance failures.
Installation
Installing the replacement head involves removing the existing skin and tensioning system. Place the new 12″ head centered over the bearing edge of the shell. Gradually tighten the ropes or lugs in a cross-pattern to ensure even tension across the surface. Note: Proper tuning is essential to achieve the correct pitch and prevent premature head failure.
Compatibility
This replacement head is designed for use with Tycoon Percussion Sangban drums and other percussion instruments with a 12-inch diameter bearing edge. Please verify your drum’s shell diameter before purchase to ensure a proper fit.
