Key Details
- Eco-Friendly Shell: Constructed from sustainably sourced Mango Wood from Northern Thailand for superior resonance and environmental responsibility.
- Dynamic Tonal Range: Engineered to produce deep, loud bass tones and high, sharp slap tones for maximum versatility.
- Heavy-Duty Tuning: Equipped with 5mm extra-strong, non-stretch rope, allowing for precise tuning that remains stable over time.
- Handcrafted Aesthetics: Finished with a natural varnish that highlights the unique grain of the wood and provides a professional look.
Use Cases
This djembe is an ideal choice for a variety of musical environments:
- Live Performance: The loud bass and sharp slaps cut through a mix, making it suitable for stage performances and street drumming.
- Studio Recording: The natural Mango Wood shell provides a warm, organic tone that records cleanly for world music or percussion tracks.
- Educational Settings: A robust build and reliable rope-tuning system make it a great option for students learning traditional West African drumming techniques.
- Cultural Gatherings: Perfect for drum circles and community events where a portable yet powerful percussion instrument is needed.
Installation
As a rope-tuned instrument, the Supremo Select requires manual tensioning to achieve the desired pitch. To set up the drum:
- Tensioning: Use the 5mm non-stretch rope to tighten the skin by weaving the rope according to traditional djembe tuning methods.
- Tuning: Gradually increase tension to move from a deep, resonant bass to a tighter, higher-pitched slap.
- Maintenance: Periodically check the rope tension and apply a light cleaning to the natural varnish finish to maintain the shell’s luster.
Compatibility
This is a standalone acoustic percussion instrument. It is compatible with any standard djembe accessory, including carrying straps, tuning keys (if applicable to specific rope knots), and percussion stands designed for goblet drums.
