Description

Knock is the evolution of BDX-909, expanding the proven circuit-accurate TR-909 core into a complete bassdrum production instrument. The analog-modeled signal path features a hardware-measured triangle oscillator with diode clipping, transistor VCA, LFSR noise click, and RC envelopes, plus an alternative SVF bridged-T oscillator mode for cleaner resonant tones. Independent pitch sweep depth control separates sweep amount from sweep time, ranging from pure sub (0%) through authentic 909 behavior (33%) to laser/Simmons territory (100%). A continuous body waveshaper morphs the oscillator from sinusoidal to parabolic, adding warm even harmonics without standard saturator mud. Six tick transient types (Classic, FM, Noise, HP, Chirp, Metal) provide diverse attack characters, while a dedicated Punch FX section applies time-windowed transient processing with four filter types (LP/HP/BP), four distortion algorithms (Tube/Tape/Clip/Fold), and wet/dry mix for surgical attack control. A 50-sample layer engine adds one-shot samples with pitch shifting (±24 st), decay envelope, HPF/LPF filtering, timing offset, phase flip, velocity sensitivity, and a pogo pitch bend envelope. The Disperse section cascades up to 256 allpass filters for transient smearing and laser sweep effects with selectable Pre/Post positioning. A full Mackie-style strip EQ provides 0-40 dB gain with console saturation, dual parametric mids, shelving EQ (±15 dB), and an 18 dB/oct highpass with Pre/Post routing. The Mod Ring system fires a per-hit envelope across eight Strip EQ and reverb send targets with five envelope shapes (Exp, Lin, Log, Bump, Sine) for dynamic tonal movement without automation. Nine reverb modes (Room, Hall, Plate, Multi-Tap, Gated) with pre-delay, tone, drive, and three tail behaviors (Off/Reset/Duck) complete the signal chain. One-knob drive with HI MID and HIGH coloration, Clip 0dB transparent limiting, chromatic MIDI tracking, and zero-latency processing deliver mix-ready kicks from classic house to hard-hitting gabber in a single plugin.
